Powerchair Hockey

What is Powerchair Hockey?

Powerchair Hockey is a team sport designed specifically for people who use an electric wheelchair.

Two teams compete with the aim of scoring as many goals as possible in the opposing goal. Players move using electric wheelchairs and play with a floorball ball.

Depending on their physical abilities, players can use a hand-held stick or a T-stick, a stick attached directly to the front of the wheelchair. This allows people with different levels of mobility to play together.

Powerchair Hockey is a fast, technical and tactical sport. It requires control of your wheelchair, good positioning, reading the game, teamwork and quick decision-making.

For me, it is not simply an adapted sport: it is a real competitive sport in which I can challenge myself, improve and have a great deal of fun.

My sporting journey

Discovering Powerchair Hockey

I discovered Powerchair Hockey through Rossfeld, the institution adapted for people with disabilities where I completed part of my schooling.

One of my friends already played Powerchair Hockey. He told me about it and I went with him to a training session to discover the sport. I had the chance to try it and immediately loved it.

23 September 2023 — The start of competition

On 23 September 2023, I took part in my very first championship match day. Since then, I have continued to improve, train and discover more and more about competition.

August 2025 — International tournament in the Netherlands

From 14 to 18 August 2025, I had the opportunity to take part in an international tournament in the Netherlands with Rolling Thunder Bern.

We finished 7th out of 14 teams. This experience allowed me to play against foreign teams, discover the international level and experience an important tournament with my team.

My team — Rolling Thunder Bern

I play with Rolling Thunder Bern, a Powerchair Hockey team based in Bern.

The team was founded in 2004 by Daniel Pulver and his wife Isabelle Pulver. Daniel is also the team’s coach.

Our team includes Jan Schäublin, who also plays for the Swiss national team. He is one of the best Powerchair Hockey players in the world. At the 2026 World Championship, he received a best handstick player award.

Jan and two other players from our team became world champions in 2026 with the Swiss national team. 🇨🇭

Where I am today

Today, I play with Rolling Thunder Bern in League A and League C, and I am also part of the Swiss development squad. 🇨🇭

My playing style

My role on the court changes depending on the league I play in.

In League C, I mainly play in attack. I enjoy having the ball, challenging my opponents, trying to beat them with dribbles and feints, creating chances and, of course, trying to score.

I particularly enjoy the creative side of the game. I am always looking to learn new techniques and find different solutions on the court. I also draw inspiration from other sports, especially football, by observing players' movement, feints and creativity.

In League A, my role is different. Because I have less physical strength than many other players, I play more for the team. My work includes blocking opposing players to create space and allow my teammates to develop the play.

My goal: keep improving and developing my own playing style. 🏑⚡

My goals

My first major goal is to one day join the Swiss national team 🇨🇭 and have the chance to represent my country at the highest international level.

In particular, I dream of taking part in a European Championship and a World Cup.

But my ambition goes even further: my dream would be to one day become one of the best Powerchair Hockey players in the world. I know the journey is still long, but that is exactly what makes me want to keep working, learning and improving.
